wtf? What’s the foonf? by clek

Automotive safety innovation. Now for your child.

Foonf is Clek’s new convertible car seat – introducing revolutionary safety technology, innovative convenience features, and it’s recyclable.

The revolutionary REACT (Rapid Energy-Absorbing Crumple Technology) safety system. One of the most effective innovations in automotive safety is the crumple zone, the area of the vehicle that is designed to deform and crumple in a collision. The crumple zone absorbs energy in an impact, preventing it from being transmitted to the occupants. Much like the crumple zones that protect us in the cars we drive, the crumple zone system integrated into every Foonf child seat protects your child, reducing the forces transmitted to your forward-facing child in a frontal collision by up to 40%.

How REACT works:

In a collision, the vehicle comes to an abrupt stop, but the child continues to move at the same speed. The less time that it takes for the child to come to a complete stop, the higher the forces exerted on the child. The REACT Safety System allows that sudden change in momentum to happen over a longer period of time through a series of controlled events. Foonf is designed to ride down the collision crumpling the aluminum honeycomb and absorbing energy from the collision resulting in less force transferred to the child.

Other features:

  • Foonf is built to keep your child rear-facing longer (rated rear-facing up to 45 lbs) and protect them in case of a side-impact collision.
  • Featuring Clek’s signature Rigid-LATCH installation and a narrow width profile, Foonf is the convertible child seat that actually makes a parent’s job easier.
  • Foonf boasts a narrow width under 17 inches, providing space that makes 3-across seating possible.
  • Foonf includes an easy-to-engage, smooth recline function, making each ride more comfortable.
  • Crypton Super Fabrics offer permanent protection against stains, moisture and bacteria. Easy to clean. Fabrics are removable.
  • Integrated Magnets keep harnesses open to make taking your child in and out easier. Approved for use on aircraft.
  • The entire seat—from plastic and metal to foam and fabric—is recycled and used to make new products.
  • Usage guidelines: rear-facing 25-46″, 14-45 lbs, from approx. 6 months; forward-facing 30-49″, 22-65 lbs, from about 1 year or walking unassisted.

So cool, so innovative, so in-demand – coming SUMMER 2012 but due to overwhelming demand, the manufacturer has already sold out of 3 months of inventory. We are taking pre-orders now for October 2012 delivery. Limited quantities available to order yours today!

Coming Soon – Oilo Studio Bedding and Decor

Oilo’s roots are steeped in the Hawaiian words, “lio” (small sprout) and “ho’oilo” (the cool, rainy season). Every autumn, the Hawaiian sun weakens and tropical trade winds usher in magnificent storms that blanket the islands in a cool, cleansing rain. It’s not beach weather. It’s curl up on the sofa with a good book weather. It’s wrap your baby up tight and rock her to sleep in the moonlight weather. Mostly, it’s about sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the serenity of life.

Annalisa Thomas founded Oilo to fill a void in the category for high quality designer look and quality nursery and home decor without designer prices. With a degree in arts and background in graphic design, Thomas’ passion for creativity brings a fresh new approach to a clean, simple, and fashionable look for nursery and home decor. Oilo is about turning your nursery into the most comfortable and carefree sanctuary in your home.

Coming Soon – Mutsy Strollers, Boosters and Accessories

Yet another great addition to the Gingerbread Monkeys family of booster seats, strollers and stroller accessories:

Mutsy, originally founded as Mutsaerts in 1937, got its start building traditionally styled prams. Initially serving the Benelux countries of Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg, the idea of portability and comfort were critical given these countries’ emphasis on walking. The result was larger than normal wheels to provide improved maneuverability and a smoother ride for baby.

Mutsy’s mission is to meet the needs of today’s modern and mobile parent, with a distinctive baby transport collection and a range of other innovative baby products offering flexibility for all lifestyles. The transport collection includes: 4Rider and 4Rider Light which both offer the flexibility and convenience of a reversible seat - may be used with baby facing mum or facing the world. The Transporter is characterised by its ease of operation, a height adjustable push bar and its compact volume when folded. The 4Riders and the Transporter can be used in combination with a carry cot, a seat cover, and different car seats. The Easyrider is a classic umbrella stroller with a uniquely shaped aluminum frame, fitted with small swivel wheels at the front, plus canopy and adjustable back. A unique front suspension system rolls over curbs. A very deep seat recline and 3 position adjustable leg rest makes it very comfortable for children 3 months and up.

In addition to a range of baby transport products with Mutsy’s signature quality, design and unparalleled flexibility, the Mutsy collection has expanded to include high chairs, booster seats and other innovative baby accessories. Check out the entire collection here. Coming to Gingerbread Monkeys in February 2012.

Top December Movies List

One of my favourite shows on TV, Criminal Minds, offers up some brilliant and quirky characters – both on and off the set. Matthew Gray Gubler, who plays the adorable Dr. Reid, often provides some comic relief, again – both on and off the set. I recently came across his Facebook post about his favourite December movie. I thought it was worth sharing. Enjoy.
