Coming Soon – Oilo Studio Bedding and Decor

Oilo’s roots are steeped in the Hawaiian words, “lio” (small sprout) and “ho’oilo” (the cool, rainy season). Every autumn, the Hawaiian sun weakens and tropical trade winds usher in magnificent storms that blanket the islands in a cool, cleansing rain. It’s not beach weather. It’s curl up on the sofa with a good book weather. It’s wrap your baby up tight and rock her to sleep in the moonlight weather. Mostly, it’s about sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the serenity of life.

Annalisa Thomas founded Oilo to fill a void in the category for high quality designer look and quality nursery and home decor without designer prices. With a degree in arts and background in graphic design, Thomas’ passion for creativity brings a fresh new approach to a clean, simple, and fashionable look for nursery and home decor. Oilo is about turning your nursery into the most comfortable and carefree sanctuary in your home.

Check out Oilo at Gingerbread Monkey’s coming January 2012.

JJ Cole Strollers and Gear – New for 2012

Oops they did it again! One of our favourite brands has outdone themselves – again. Always practical and stylish – but most importantly - always reasonably priced!

JJ Cole’s newest additions, arriving in early 2012:

The JJ Cole Broadway Stroller easily converts from bassinet mode to a toddler seat for fashionable versatility. With full 360 degree spin, adjustable handle height and multiple positions for your child, the Broadway is fully customizable to fit your needs. Easily switch styles with six additional color swap canopies. How great is that? No need to commit. It’s bad enough that you have a huge selection of strollers to choose from – only to have to also commit to a colour. With JJ Cole’s color swap canopies you can change canopy colors to suit your mood! Your Broadway stroller is instantly restyled with a different easy-on canopy color.

A lightweight stroller that is both stylish and durable, the JJ Cole Monroe Stroller is perfect for every outing. Its ability to convert into a travel system with the JJ Cole Newport Car Seat just made your life easier. Also featuring an adjustable 130 degree back which reclines for child’s comfort and color swap canopies to change things up depending on your mood.

It doesn’t end there! New to Gingerbread Monkeys from JJ Cole:

We look forward to many more great things to come from JJ Cole – tried, tested and a true favourite!

Serena & Lily Wake Up The Room

Serena & Lily Marni Duvet

Serena & Lily Marni Duvet

Just when we thought they couldn’t do one better, Serena & Lily has introduced some fresh new prints sure to liven up any room. My personal fave, Marni. If the perfect shade of yellow exists, I think this might be it. Paired with Serena & Lily’s clean-lined white medallion print, Marni adds just the right punch of color and contrast.

Then there is Mandara: marries influences from architectural details to vintage tiles with Serena & Lily’s signature fresh California style, in a palette that hints at seaside tropics.

Serena & Lily’s new duvets also include Holt with campy stripes in army green that are brought to life with a tangy pop of orange piping. For those who crave a quieter bed, the Navy Border Duvet or Berry Border Duvet offer a beautiful layering piece that allows you to start simple and add on as you desire. Dial it up with sheets in a bold color and pattern, or keep it clean and classic––whatever suits your style.

Better still, Serena & Lily is currently having a SALE on some of their best selling pieces. Shop now for the best selection! Sale ends on August 23rd.

Sarah Richardson offers a pretty, new take on the modern nursery

Nursery Decor Tips

“I HAD A ‘NO BUNNIES’ RULE,” laughs designer Sarah Richardson, describing the chic yet playful nursery she designed for her new baby. “I wanted there to be colour, energy, vitality and happiness, but not the traditional nursery trappings.” For the star of HGTV’s Design Inc., the magic lay in customized pieces from her own furniture collection, a sleek ’n’ sweet designer crib, and a sophisticated cream, red and walnut palette. (Not to mention the gorgeous fabrics she used, which add hits of verdant green, blue and yellow to the space.) While Richardson and her husband, Alexander, didn’t know whether they had a boy or girl on board – daughter Robin was born just after this shoot – one thing’s never been in doubt: baby’s got style.
